Вышла обновленная версия игры Pac-Man для Xbox 360

Игровой дизайнер Тору Иватани, подаривший миру легендарного Pac-Man, разработал обновленную версию игры для приставки Xbox 360. Новинка под названием Championship Edition была продемонстрирована на днях на конференции Pac-Man World Championship в Нью-Йорке.

Pac-Man, напомним, представляет собой культовую игру в жанре аркады. Задача игрока — собрать все белые точки на уровне, избегая столкновений с привидениями. Уровень заканчивается, когда съедены все точки. Тору Иватани создал игру, будучи сотрудником компании Namco. Автор заявляет, что идея Pac Man пришла к нему, когда он увидел пиццу, из которой был вырезан один кусок. Впрочем, в одном из интервью 1986 года Иватани отметил, что эта история - лишь на половину правда: он округлил иероглиф kuchi и придал ему подобие рта.

Доходы компании Namco от этой игры составили 100 миллионов долларов. Представитель компании сообщил, что в Pac-Man играли более 10 миллиардов раз. Кстати, Иватани в настоящее время носит профессора по компьютерным играм и преподает в Токийском политехническом университете.

Обновленный Pac-Man для Xbox 360 обзавелся графикой в высоком разрешении, новым саундтреком и шестью игровыми режимами, отсутствовавшими в оригинальной игре.

Владельцы Xbox 360, которые не прочь поностальгировать, могут скачать Pac-Man Championship Edition с сервиса Xbox Live Arcade за 800 баллов (около 10 долларов). Портированная на Xbox 360 оригинальная версия Pac-Man доступна на Xbox Live Arcade с января нынешнего года, сообщает Associated Press.
